What does being joint insured mean?

Joint insured just means that you are noted on the contractor’s policy and can, therefore, directly claim against it and benefit from the proceeds of an insurance pay-out. It doesn’t place any additional burden on you but does mean that you are able to personally claim against the policy if something happens and the contractor doesn’t or can’t cooperate, i.e., refuses to make a claim or by going into liquidation is unable to make a claim. This joint insurance arrangement provides you with a direct avenue for recourse in case of unforeseen events, ensuring that you have a stake in the insurance coverage and can initiate claims independently if necessary.
